Book Musings: Reading schedules

I'm constantly amazed by how many books my blog buddies read every month. It seems like some of you guys post book reviews almost every day, which I think is just awesome.

For me, I average about a book a week, give or take. I have a pretty consistent reading schedule. I listen to my audio books to and from work. In the evenings before going to bed, I read a chapter or two. In total, that's about 45 - 60 minutes per day that I spend reading.

I'm wondering: how much time do you guys spend reading every day?

  1. I've noticed the alarming amount of books that other people read compared to me as well! More and more I'm finding that I need to make a conscious effort to set aside time to read. I carpool so my commute time is taken up. When I get home I try to squeeze in some writing time and then I'm too exhausted to do much else.

It's sad really. I've decided I am going to write up a schedule and will pencil in reading time to make myself read.

  2. My reading had been so sporadic lately. I try to read at night but am usually so tired that I only read for a half hour a day. Pretty pathetic.

  3. Well, it really depends. I read close to 2 hours every night before bed, but during the day it depends on how much work I have. My regular schedule is to read in the mornings from about 9:30 to 11:30 (though I have lots of interruptions with my children). But lately I have spent about 3 days a week working during that time instead. I also read when I eat, but that's probably only about 20 minutes a day total.

  4. I read an hour before bed, unless it's a book I can't put down! I think the most I ever read in the past year was 7 books in 11 days:-)
